Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

Add another one to the list... Same problem here

xorg-server 1.9.3.901-1
xcompmgr 1.1.5-1
rxvt-unicode 9.10-1

Have tried the -compsite-fix package with no luck...

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

Downgrading from xf86-video-intel 2.14.0-1 to 2.13.0-4 fixed it for me.

 % pacman -Q rxvt-unicode xorg-server xcompmgr xf86-video-intel intel-dri [~]
rxvt-unicode 9.10-1
xorg-server 1.9.3.901-1
xcompmgr 1.1.5-1
xf86-video-intel 2.13.0-4
intel-dri 7.10-1

OK, that's fixed the problem for me when I'm not running xcompmgr, but I'm still getting it when I am.

urxvt behaves for me as long as I avoid using Xft fonts.

Because I've been awake for way too long. Anyways, this is already upstream with FDO.

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

That still doesn't explain why it was happening to me when xcompmgr wasn't running when I was running xf86-video-intel 2.14.0-1. This bug shouldn't show up at all when compositing isn't enabled.

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

Because it's clearly two separate issues.

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

I can confirm that not using Xft fonts solves the problem, at least for me (running xcompmgr).

Downgrading also fixed it for me. The cursor still disappears, only to reappear 1 or 2 secs later. The cursor glyph doesn't get messed up anymore.

To rest or to not do anything, that is the question.

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

Anyone know if this is still happening with xf86-video-intel 2.14.0-2 (added to the repos on 2/18)?

Just finished installing 2.14.0-2. Apparently it's working again.

It's better, but a blinking cursor in urxvt still doesn't display properly.

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

Hi everyone, I had this cursor problem too.
I'm using xcompmgr-git from AUR, intel graphics. (x86_64)
And I'm not sure why but I think I found a workaround.
Try running this:

urxvt -depth 32

Well, instead of going transparent, it fix the issue (At least in my case).
But when I tried adding "urxvt*depth: 32" to .Xdefaults, it went transparent and the cursor disappear so I removed it and use "urxvt -depth 32" instead.

Hope this help.

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

Furthermore, when compositing is enabled there are artefacts on Midnight Commander panels in urxvt there.
But, it's Ok with mc when running it in sakura, lxterminal. Seems like somehow it is related to urxvt and compositing.
Of course, video is Intel indeed.
Xorg 1.9.4
xf86-video-intel 2.14.0-1

P.S. Maybe, this is the solution? https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32734#c22

I had the same problem and found a solution here: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339716

A fixed pkgbuild tarball can be found here: http://piie.net/files/xorg-server_urxvt … fix.tar.gz

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

The bug is gone in the last update of the driver in repo.
Just costs a wait for a little. smile

extra/xf86-video-intel 2.14.0-3 (xorg-drivers xorg)
works  like a charm

Not entirely. The issue has been solved for when Xcompmgr is not running, but it still exists when it is.

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

While doing some cleaning of the system, I found that I got this problem when I replaced libxft-lcd from AUR[1] with libxft from extra, so I changed it back and am not seeing any problems.
