I just switched to lilyterm. Urxvt isn't that great.

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

Also experiencing a disappearing cursor with both DejaVu Sans Mono and Liberation Mono.  Tried all of the solutions mentioned in this thread; none work.

% uname -a
Linux ares 3.0-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Aug 30 08:53:25 CEST 2011 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU M 640 @ 2.80GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Package list:
local/intel-dri 7.11-2
local/lib32-intel-dri 7.10.3-1
local/openbox 3.5.0-4
local/rxvt-unicode 9.12-1
local/ttf-dejavu 2.33-1
local/ttf-liberation 1.07.0-1
local/xcompmgr 1.1.5-1
local/xf86-video-intel 2.15.0-2
local/xorg-server 1.10.3.901-1

Setting the X resource urxvt*cursorUnderline, however, does work.  Here's the relevant lines from ~/.Xdefaults:

urxvt*depth: 32
urxvt*geometry: 80x25
urxvt*font: xft:DejaVu Sans Mono:pixelsize=8:antialias=true
urxvt*saveLines: 512
urxvt*scrollTtyKeypress: true
urxvt*scrollTtyOutput: false
urxvt*scrollBar: true
urxvt*scrollBar_right: true
urxvt*loginShell: true
urxvt*jumpScroll: true
urxvt*cursorBlink: true
urxvt*cursorUnderline: true
urxvt*background: [75]black
urxvt*foreground: green

Functional command lines under that configuration:

% urxvt
% urxvt +sb -sl 0 -e screen
% urxvt -fn 'xft:Liberation Mono:pixelsize=8:antialias=true' +sb -sl 0 -e screen

Another thing I noticed when cursorUnderline was disabled is that when I focus a urxvt and switch workspaces, sometimes the entire window disappears.  Repeating the process can sometimes make the window reappear.  Minimizing it and restoring it can also make it reappear.

Hi, hexadecagram, please edit your post.
When pasting code, please use [ code ] tags https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode

like this

It makes the code more readable and more convenient to scroll through.

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

This issue i clearly not solved, why is it still marked as [SOLVED]? I have the same issue, using either xcompmgr or cairo-compmgr with urxvt. I'm also stuck with using the workaround with the cursorUnderline option.

It worked for OP https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 33#p835833

If it doesn't work for you , you're free to open another thread, especially as the package lifeafter2am suggested https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 49#p835749 is gone.

Re: [Solved] Cursor disappears in rxvt-unicode / xft font

I had this same problem running Compiz (with Intel graphics), and installing libxft-lcd did the trick.

As karol suggested, I opened a new thread on this subject here.
