So how to get rid of this?

Maybe I have a similar problem. X starts fine, but KDE crashes after Splash-Screen after boot procedure.
Try this:
I switch to console (CTRL+ALT+F1) and kill X. KDE will automatically restart, login again and KDE should start fine after that. It's a little bit anoying, but at least it works - upgrading to 4.5.2-2 from testing doesn't solve this (for me at least).

This actually helped. The ghost frame is gone after kde restart with killing X.
But this is just a temporary fix. I will consider submitting bug report to kde or arch linux.
Thanks.

You're welcome. I'm a little curious - do you have a plasmoid called Mountoid installed? Yesterday I installed gdb to collect debugging information about that certain KDE Bug and report it too - and KDE crashing at first start up seems to have something to do with that plasmoid on my machine.

It has happened to me too in 4.5.1... I have no clue what it is, I don't use any plasmoids besides folderview in the desktop.

I also had this in 4.5.2, on my Desktop as well as my Laptop. It was gone after restarting X.

I can confirm that killing X solves the problem, but of course it appears again after restarting the system.

This frame looks like a shadow of a window. Maybe there is a transparant window/program?
