I tried to figure out how to configure my touchpad properly, but couldn't.
The problem is that my touchpad seems way too sensitive. The cursors wiggles around even if I don't have my finger pressed firmly on the touchpad. That is, it wiggles even if my finger is about 1-2 millimeters above the touchpad. I don't even have to touch the pad. This results in the cursor jumping around the screen every time I place my finger on the touchpad.
Is there some setting I could chance or is this a hardware defect?

Hello,
The synaptics driver you are probably using has a lot of options to fine-tune its behaviour. You should try higher values of the "FingerHigh" option.
The archlinux wiki should have the necessary documentation to configure the driver.
Cheers

Thanks for your answer. There was a configuration example of ALPS touchpad that had this FingerHigh option but it wasn't explained what it does. I'll try what changing it does.
Edit:
Adding Option "FingerHigh" "8" into /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf and tuning the value worked. Thanks for the help
