PCI SATA Controller - Advice Needed

I have a 1Tb Samsung Sata hard drive which I need to install in my old Dell Dimension 3000 (2005).

The Dell only has PCI interfaces (no PCI-Express). It is a Pentium 4, 800Mhz fsb model. The specification says that the PCI bus speed is 33Mhz. It only has an IDE interface as standard.

I would be grateful for any information/experience on the best PCI Sata controller cards for this machine

Many thanks in advance.

Edited: PC date should be 2005, not 1995 a originally posted . That WOULD be an antique!!!

Re: PCI SATA Controller - Advice Needed

Since I wanted to replace the existing hard drive (not add another one) and, as far as I could discover, the lack of a PCI-E socket limits the machine to SATA 1.0 speeds, I used this SATa/IDE converter from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/IOMAX-Drive-Co … 775&sr=8-4

The main advantage is that it does not use up a PCI slot.

So far, the device has worked without any problems despite being repeatedly plugged and un-plugged while moving from one drive to the other.

I hope this helps.
