mtpaint cannot save jpeg

$ pacman -Q libjpeg
libjpeg 8.0.2-1

$ pacman -Q openjpeg
openjpeg 1.3-3

$ pacman -Q mtpaint
mtpaint 3.31-4

No jpg to save:

Here I'am again, reopening an over three years old threat cause I  experienced  exact same problem.
I would not do so if even this threat is the only relevant thing I found by searching.

Supplement:
And again, while writing these lines I found the solution by chance:

By default the mtpaint setting for new documents is set to 'indexed pallette'.
This format is not saveable in jpg-Format!
You have to change setting for new documents to 24bit RGB once and you can save as jpg/jpeg and much more formats.

So I post this in the hope it could be useful for anyone experiencing same behaviour of mtpaint.
