Yay. Infamous pacman bug strikes again. I wonder how I've overlooked dp's suggestion :-) Well, thanks anyway, it seems to work more or less properly now. The only quirk I see is that it doesn't show my NIC in hwd -s.

I am working on hwd-4.6 which will include better codes copied from /Archie/mkxcfg in Archie live CD (z4ziggy). Fewer files, faster and less codes.

Its almost ready.
I want to include PCMCIA in "hwd -s". dp can you plug in one PCMCIA card in your machine and run "lshwd -a -m". Want to see the category name. The "CardBus bridge" is for PCMCIA slot, if I am not wrong.

Does anyone has a scanner? If, then what's the category name?

and a pcmcia-to-compact-flash addapter with cf inside into pcmcia

EDIT: forgot the modules:

* the "hostap_pci" (the "Intersil PRISMII.5" wireless mini-pci), the lshwd suggests does not work, so i use orinoco_pci
* intel: e100
* dec pcmcia lan: tulip

EDIT2: i should really stop hurrying: forgot to mention the CF-addapter:
the cf appears automagically under /dev/sdc1 after i plug it in. no module is loaded extra (lsmod before and after are the same), so i suggest it uses some builtin thing in the kernel (= it simply works - that's the kind of hardware i like ;-) )

hope that i didn't forget something now ;-)

Hwd-4.6 is uploaded and soon in extra.
Same layout, faster output (less files and codes), and new options.
If doesn't detect your pci, usb, or pcmcia card, download latest tables (hwd -u).

If problem with upgrade, may cause because /usr/sbin/ddcxinfo-arch is in separate package. In case:
pacman -R hwd ddcxinfo-arch
Pacman -S hwd

I removed the old versions of hwd and ddcxinfo-arch and reinstalled. Did run a hwd -u but the results are the same. I will test the other machine too.

The monitor rates are wrong:
        HorizSync    30.0 - 83.0
        VertRefresh  56.0 - 75.0

Out / Gone
Mirgrating all my machines off ArchLinux . No longer part of the ArchLinux community / users .

Found the bug.... for me to fix, what type of mouse do you have? Is your mouse detected by hwd? If not, then run "lshwd".

About H and V sync, they may not be correct but are they workable? The sync output is used in the X sample.
Run "hwd -x" and test the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.hwd (or XF86Config-4.hwd). Backup your current and rename xorg.conf.hwd

Yeah it detects the mouse, its a logitec PS/2 explorer. From hwd -s:

My monitor should be V:56-75hz  H:30-61kHz...I ran the sample output as you said and it seems fine. My my monitor itself has an 'info' button which says

Before I ran the sample (from 2 hwd -s versions ago)it was 60kHz.and 75Hz.

Another strange thing, after rebooting hwd -s command was not found. I had to reinstall it.

Question: is it possible to implement prexisting ms-ttf fonts("/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF") into this sample config? Just curious.

Currently "hwd -s" shows one Ethernet and Network only. "Hwd -e" (same as "lshwd -c") shows all as per pci table. With color "-ec".

The error message will be fixed in 4.6.1 in few days.

FYI on the P III nics got mixed up as well: the 3c59x is eth1.  The SMC 9432TX (epic100) is eth0.
hwd -e shows them in the right order (eth0 comes first). Or is that a coincidence ?
I posted the output in the other thread this morning (GMT+2) .

I had same problem : 

  Soundcard  : No sound card
  Video      : No X

In /usr/bin/hwd i replaced 

# Hardware detect
/usr/bin/lshwd -a -n -m > /tmp/lshwd.out | dmesg -n 1

by 

# Hardware detect
/usr/bin/lshwd -a -m > /tmp/lshwd.out | dmesg -n 1

and now : 

HARDWARE DETECT ver 4.8.1 (simple mode)
  ALSA(sound): Creative Labs|SB Live! (audio) module: snd-emu10k1
  Video      : nVidia Corp.|NV43 [GeForce 6600/GeForce 6600 GT] server: Xorg (vesa)

is it normal ?  roll
