shifty-git rename tag function didn't work in awesome

i just installed awesome and shifty for dynamic tagging, everything works fine except that the rename function didn't work - no prompt shows up and i can't input the tag name.

packages i've installed:

awesome 3.4.8-1
shifty-git 20101029-1

and i've tried the awesome-git package,  the shifty-git package simply didn't work under the git version of awesome.

any idea? thanks.
