xf86-video-ati and three monitors?

I keep getting mixed answers on this, so I will ask it here:

Can I run a tri-head setup using xf86-video-ati? I'd really like to be able to drag between monitors, too (Not sure if Xinerama is the way to do this with the OS drivers). I've already been able to do this for two monitors, but can't get the third to leave power saving mode, though it shows up on 'xrandr'. Setting the position of the power-saving-mode-monitor just changes the position of the other two functioning monitors, but leaves the third powered down.

My video card is a single ATI 5870, powering three DisplayPort monitors through DisplayPort cables. They are identical and oriented the same way.

Not having any luck with ATI's crash-crazy drivers, so let's just rule those out as an alternative from the beginning.
