new gThumb no import from ptp camera

Since 28 oct. pacman -Syu upgraded gthumb 2.10.12-1 to 2.12.0-2 it no longer import images from the camera.
Have been using Archlinux for nearly 2 years. Always use gthumb for my photos and using the same Canon S3.
Yes i' m in the camera group.  First noticed new gthum atomaticly disabled the import plugin. It was
missing exiv2 so install that but no improvement. oh, and >lshal shows it has found USB PTP camera.
Anyone suggestions ?

The new gthumb seems to be missing many functions of the previous version. It looks like they completely rewrote it, but only included the most basic functionality.
