Strange networking problem

I'm having a strange problem with my home network.
First of all, the net is working fine with Windows and Arch in my netbook.
The problem si Arch in my desktio PC.
It takes too long to resolv hosts. When I do for example "ping google.com" it takes for about 5 to 6 seconds to resolv google.com. The same happens in browser. It takes that time to resolv the host and then everything works fine.
The network is configured via dhcp in all OS (Windows and Arch netbook)

Another thing. I logged in as root, and ping to google and it resolves normal.

Any ideas?

thanks.

Re: Strange networking problem

Have you tried issuing the following commands:

dig www.google.com
nslookup www.google.com

What output do you see?  Do they look different when run from root versus normal user?
