VirtualBox lost auto-resize magic?

I have been at a loss to find the answer to this in various forums.
On past VirtualBox installs I have installed Guest Additions and I have had the function to auto-resize the VirtualBox display up to the host native resolution.
(In this case 1680x1050).
Just to be clear by this, I mean that I could click and drag the corner of VirtualBox to increase or decrease the displayed size of VirtualBox.

On this recent install of VirtualBox-OSE + Guest additions I can only increase the guest size to 1366x768.
(I do this by adjusting display setting in Ubuntu Maverick guest-display settings has two options 800x600 or 1366x768)

This is quite adequate and not a show stopper for normal usage but I would like to get the auto-sizing feature restored.

Any tips on how this is achieved now would much appreciated.
