infinality freetype patches and firefox

I installed the *-infinality freetype packages from aur, and i have to say, that i'm seeing the best font rendering ever on linux.
A definite improvement over the unpatched packages for me.

However firefox is another story. I could upload a screenshot if needed but maybe words would suffice:
Regardless of font, some letters look bolder than others, or even lines/parts of the same letter seem to have different weight/boldness. Subpixel rendering/order is a mess.

Obviously I'd rather fix firefox than have to restore the unpatched packages. Any pointers?

Re: infinality freetype patches and firefox

Firefox is using it's own internal Cairo engine since recently, this is causing problems with font rendering. See here for more information and what you can do to work around it: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=105660

Closing this for duplication.
