It depends on what you want to do. For checking the 1st partition:

reiserfsck /dev/hda1

Then it will display what it will do and you type Yes. That's the only thing I ever used. And it never found any corruptions. Reiserfs is pretty stable and robust, it doesn't need regular checks and repairs.

For most (all?) operations the partition must not be mounted in rw mode or even not mounted at all - see man pages for details

Yeah, so you have to use a boot cd to check/fix your normal boot partition.  Why is this the case for reiser 3 but ext 3 allows the check at boot if tell it to in fstab?

I did read the man pages but i was unable to scan my / partition, but the program was/is unable to open the filesystem, probably because it's mounted.
