missing application in e17

Hi guys.

I just install arch on my machine using e17 as WM. I have followed arch wiki for both installing X and installing e17. Everything worked fine expect for my application menu which is empty. I don't even have a shell. How can I fix this? I installed chromium for example and it doesn't appear.

Also, how can I launch SLiM automatically on startup? (You can ignore this question if you want. I just hadn't had the time to read this part yet)/

Thanks.

Yotam

Re: missing application in e17

Do you have a menu file?
"locate applications.menu"

if so then you can use that
"cp /etc/xdg/menus/gnome-applications.menu ~/.config/menus/applications.menu"
Edit the first part to fit what you have.

Else you can generate a xdg menu (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/XdgMenu) and use that. You may have to play around with it a bit to get it right, not sure where I got my menu's smile But something like this might work:
"xdg_menu --fullmenu"

Re: missing application in e17

Sorry, none of those didn't work.

Do I need another DE install (such as gnome or xfce)?

Re: missing application in e17

Installing gnome-menus should generate the application menu. As for SLiM, the Arch wiki page for SLiM explains that.
