My openoffice apps keeps crashing on loading
- everytime I open a document, it says sorry I've crashed.
- I was able to run the ooffice and see the selection menu, but pressing Write would crash too.
- Launching oowriter in xterm will only see the splash screen
Update:
Found a workaround:
- launch ooffice
- press "Text Document" twice, this would launch writer GUI.
- Then opening document is fine.
Anybody else having this weird problem?
ps. I've tried removing openoffice configuration directories and it didn't help.

I did have this weird problem just a few days ago, after upgrading openoffice. I'm not sure when it started, but by the time I tried to use oowriter and noticed, there was another upgrade that fixed it. I have no idea what caused the problem, but it was just like yours. I could run ooffice and get to writer through the chooser, but if I ran it standalone it would give the splash and exit. Opening documents via nautilus wasn't working either; that's what got me doing all that to begin with.
Any chance there's an upgrade waiting for you? Is your mirror up to date?
