[solved] vmware black screen problem after update xorg-server

Hello,

I am usign Arch a very long time for developing software. Also I've installed VMWare Player with Windows XP (guest os)  for developing Freescale software.
Now I'm now facing a problem with the vmware player. Yesterday I've updated my system with the new xorg-server and some new KDE packages. I didn't perform a Linux kernel update (I'm currently using the newest 2.6.35 kernel and the 2.6.32-lts kernel, both 64-bit). The VMWare player starts as usual in the "welcome" page and everything is performing normal.

However, when I start the virtual machine, it opens a new windows with the VM but this newly opened window stays "black". No screen is visible at all (in both kernels).
I've already disabled the hardware acceleration but the result remains the same.

Currently I'm running:

local/xorg-server 1.9.2-1 (xorg)

local/ati-dri 7.8.2-3

Same issue over here, with nvidia and kernel 2.6.35. Any solutions yet?

Jackgu1988,

Please follow the following directions of a French Ubuntu forum.
I appear to have some issues with the vmmon/vmsock module. A small patch have to be applied.
