AlpsPS/2 Touchpad, Dell Laptop and kernel issue

I have Arch on my Dell laptop (Vostro 1310), everything works fine but sometimes when I boot my Alps touchpad doesnt work at all. The problem is not with xorg.conf or other X configuration files. I'm sure of that. I used to have Ubuntu installed in this laptop and the same thing happened.

I thing this is probably a kernel issue. Someone have experienced this problem?

Doing a "# dmesg|grep Alps" I usually get this: input: AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input4, but when the touchpad doesnt work I get nothing.

Re: AlpsPS/2 Touchpad, Dell Laptop and kernel issue

Ok, I found this thread. In my first reboot the touchpad is working fine. Maybe I was not so sure about the problem not being with my xorg.conf. I'll wait a little to see if the problem shows up again, if not I'll come back and change the subject to solved.

Nop, Just rebooted and touchpad didnt work. The only solution is to reboot again till it works. It really seems a kernel issue. Anyone to help ?
