Arch on HP 210 Netbook

okay, I've posted several threads in the past few weeks about my netbook, but have not yet to get my HP mini 210(-1170nr) to work with arch. So now i would like to plea with anyone who has an hp mini 210 to walk me though how you got wireless, clickpad, and the whole netbook working. Especially wireless since I get get that crap working after 4 arch install following the directions on the wiki, on random forum post, etc.

If anyone could help out from experience I would be in your debt, because I just can't stand not using arch on my netbook.

Re: Arch on HP 210 Netbook

Did you follow the b43 info for wireless here? : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless#b43

Re: Arch on HP 210 Netbook

Yessir. I did both the regular b43 stuff and the wl-drivers in AUR (on seperate installs of course), but it just doesn't work for me.  Iwconfig doesn't show the wireless card and 'modprobe wl' step has not once ever worked. Every time it tells me it doesn't exist?

OK , show us the output of the following commands, run as root, (you can use pastebin if you wish):
lspci
lsmod
ifconfig
cat /etc/rc.conf

I have just installed Arch onto my netbook. Above is the lspci command. I had to type this into my main computer. I will get wired connection on my netbook and post the next commands (too long to transcribe to my computer >.>) I have not installed any drivers yet. I am not sure if the drivers should be the broadcom-wl drivers or not, so I will not touch a thing until someone could assist me here.

Re: Arch on HP 210 Netbook

Ok I just did this :-)

To get the wireless working you'll need broadcom-wl and brcm80211 from the AUR

Once they're installed go into /etc/rc.conf and add wl and brcm80211 to the modules and blacklist b43 and ssb

MODULES=(brcm80211 wl !b43 !ssb)

reboot!!

(did you reboot?)
use netcfg and net-profiles to get your wifi on! (ifconfig -a should show now a wlan0 interface ready to go!)

the tracpad, Its not perfect but at least I got right click and edge scrolling, follow these commands:

sudo su

(it will ask you for your password)

echo options psmouse proto=exps > /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.modprobe
reboot

When you come back from the reboot, right click will work, so will tap2click

Hope this helps!!

Japanlinux, could you remove the capitals and the help-reference in the topic title? See this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … ow_to_Post

Re: Arch on HP 210 Netbook

haha, forgot all about this topic. Never did figure out what was going wrong...  had to install an arch derivative to make wifi work...

Anyway, sorry about the title. No idea why arch on was caps, and sorry about the urgency message. university life without wifi sucks... :S

Won't happen again sir! thanks for being polite about it as well smile
