X on Acer Aspire One, failing Synaptic touchpad

Hi,

I am trying to install X on my Acer Aspire One. But X will not start because it can't find a synaptic mouse.
If I run

lspci | grep Syn

I indeed get void return.
But if I

cat /dev/input/mice

and stroke over my touchpad, loads of data is returned on the screen.

So, if I understand it correctly, my touchpad is working, but not recognized...
Do you have any tips on how to get this to work?
