avermedia dvd ezmaker 7

hey everybody,

pardon my russian beforehand, i'll try to make myself as clear as i can.

i'm in an interesting situation with this device. i bought it because the product page says it is officially tested and supported on linux.
http://www.avermedia.com/avertv/Product … spx?Id=505 (see the "AP&Driver" tab, you'll need javascript enabled)

so they provide drivers for linux. the installer shows the list of supported devices and the list lacks "dvd ezmaker 7". anyway, it installs two kernel modules h826d and averusbh826d. everything compiles, installs and loads fine, but when i plug my device there's only one message from kernel:

usb 1-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 8

and that's it. i tried to hack the sources and added c039 identifier for the device in aver/id.h. that didn't help, it spits:

AVerTV Volar HX AX MAX: probe of 1-3:1.0 failed with error -12

why do they provide official tested drivers for devices if they don't even recognize it. product page stats support for default ubuntu 9.10 and i checked it on ubuntu with the same luck.

some details:

$lsusb
Bus 001 Device 008: ID 07ca:c039 AVerMedia Technologies, Inc.

$lsmod | grep h826
h826d 464167 0
averusbh826d 39781 1 h826d
dvb_core 75983 3 h826d,dvb_usb,videobuf_dvb
videodev 39124 5 h826d,tuner,saa7134,v4l2_common,uvcvideo
snd_pcm 58308 5 h826d,saa7134_alsa,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_pcm_oss
snd 43283 14 h826d,saa7134_alsa,snd_hda_codec_analog,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_hda_intel,snd_seq_device,snd_hda_codec,thinkpad_acpi,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_hwdep,snd_pcm,snd_timer
usbcore 121737 7 averusbh826d,dvb_usb,uvcvideo,btusb,uhci_hcd,ehci_hcd

ideally, the /dev/videoX device should be available, but it's not being created after inserting the device.

any advises or help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: avermedia dvd ezmaker 7

nvm, i returned the device where i bought it. avermedia seized linux support not so long ago. hence their drivers wont work on newer kernels.
