Audacious volume changes Skype volume.

Hello.

I think the topic title says it all. When I have both Audacious and Skype on and I change the volume in Audacious, the Skype volume also changes. It's easy to check - turn on Audacious but don't play any music, start a Skype conversation and manipulate the volume knob in Audacious. It doesn't change the overall system volume, because neither YouTube nor VLC are influenced by the process.
Why is it like that and how can I overcome? I would prefer not using PulseAudio just for this. I haven't got it installed and wouldn't like getting it just for this one thing. I enjoy a minimal system.

I use Gnome & Alsa on a regulary Syyu'ed 64bit system.

Re: Audacious volume changes Skype volume.

Maybe not the answer you're looking for, but you could try replacing Audacious with deadbeef (in the AUR) and see if it works better... Just in case no-one has the solution wink.

Re: Audacious volume changes Skype volume.

by default audacious controls Master or PCM level directly.

In the settings you can change to software volume control.
