permissions problems in KDE [SOLVED]

Hi,

I'm getting weird issues with KDE lately: virtual consoles (konsole, yakuake...) are not functional anymore. They seem to run but they don't display anything except a blinking cursor. I also noticed I'm no longer able to run programs using kdesu. For instance, "kdesu kusers" gives me an error message such as:

The program 'su' could not be found.
Ensure your PATH is set correctly.

I suspect my 2 issues are related.

my path:

$PATH
-bash: /bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin/:/usr/bin/perlbin/vendor:/usr/lib/perl5/core_perl/bin:/opt/qt/bin: No such file or directory

I added some users to different groups a few days ago, maybe I did something wrong?

# groups sam
lp wheel log games network video optical floppy storage audio power locate scanner camera vboxusers users

Any help would be appreciated,

thanks.

Re: permissions problems in KDE [SOLVED]

One sub-question: how can I trace the "No such file or directory" message that appears in my $PATH? I guess it comes from a script, I'd like to know which one.

Thx.

Re: permissions problems in KDE [SOLVED]

echo $PATH, than check if all those dirs exist.

Re: permissions problems in KDE [SOLVED]

Well, they do. That's a non-issue. Sorry for this stupid question (and thanks for wasting your time replying to such a trivial thing).

That doesn't help with my original KDE issue, though.

Re: permissions problems in KDE [SOLVED]

Further error message gives:

Error opening /etc/shadow for reading.

Re: permissions problems in KDE [SOLVED]

Correction: virtual console and permissions issues do not seem to be related.

Re: permissions problems in KDE [SOLVED]

Actually they are.
Surely no one would have been able to help me on that one... Trying to solve this issue I modified my fstab. It was late at night, I did wrong (commenting out shm and pts instead of cdrom and dvd is surely a bad idea... funny though, it solved my previous issue...). For the records, this thread lead me to fstab.
