No sound with 2.6.36

Sound was lost due to kernel update, 2.6.36-1-3.

Tried to pacman -U the previous working kernel.  One recovered the sound just with backing out the kernel, but the other didn't recover the sound.

The first indication of the problem is after upgrading to the new kernel is that when restarting/shutting down, OSS fails on being stopped.  Then when restarted under the new kernel, no sound from any multimedia application.  Applications fail to be able to open /dev/dsp which is soft linked to something to do with pcm0.

Finally got it to work like it's supposed to.   Had to run back to an aur kernel26-rtai and an older oss (4.2-2003-2) and now this can be a (more) permanent fix.

It was shortly after I started using arch that my audio hardware was working, then when the kernel was updated the audio went away, and then later kernel updates would at least allow me to use my audio for most purposes, but the runt little program wouldn't do audio at all.  I just have a flaky piece of conexant/intel hda audio that is slightly different from even an identical motherboard.  It works no matter how many kernel updates keep coming.  But mine has just been a real pain.  Strangely, this is the same kernel I'm using to keep my TV/FM tuner working.  At least now, I can still use this older kernel, and still update to the newest kernel without having to hold back at pacman (which would hold everything up then).

I removed oss completely which caused it to work by falling back to alsa.  It works under the current linux kernel as long as I'm using gnome3.  But on the terminal or any other wm, there is no sound.  The older kernel allows it to work specifically anywhere without oss.  I guess under gnome3, I do still have pulseaudio installed, so that maybe how it is working.
