KDE Login Sound Loop

I recently set up Pulse on my system and everything was working great. I did an update today and it replaced a few pulse libraries and such. Now, when I log in, I get a sound loop of the login sound. If I try to logout, rather than logging out, I get the logout sound loop too. So both the login and the logout sounds are looping. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

EDIT:
On a similar yet different note. When playing music via Amarok, pressing stop makes the song fade out like it's stopping, stops the current song, then skips to the next track. I have no idea what's going on.

06:00.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon HD 3870 Audio device

Re: KDE Login Sound Loop

On one of my laptops, after installing pulseaudio (not an upgrade, but installing fresh the new version just released) I had a sound loop when I went to delete a file in Dolphin.  It was the system sound that plays when the delete confirmation dialog is presented.  It only happened to me one time.  I wasn't able to figure out what the cause was and I resorted to rebooting in order to get it to stop.  Other than that this new version of pulseaudio has been a very nice upgrade for me.  For the first time I am able to get A2DP streaming audio working reliably and easily.

Re: KDE Login Sound Loop

I and two other people i know have the same problem. Playing video and audio files is fine, but KDE sounds play twice. I opened a bug for this:

Re: KDE Login Sound Loop

So, can we spot the config file that causes this? It would be nice if we could avoid deleting the whole kde configuration.

Re: KDE Login Sound Loop

I did some other testing, and on my older user, when i changed to gstreamer backend *and* logout(i didn't logout when switching backends previously), this issue was solved. So it seems my new user didn't have the problem because KDE uses xine backend as default. From my findings it seems there is a problem with the vlc backend, this is what gives me problems.

Re: KDE Login Sound Loop

And xine backend is troublefree also.

The culprit is phonon-vlc. I will file a bug report.

Re: KDE Login Sound Loop

Funny. Now i noticed phonon-gstreamer doesn't play sounds at all for me. It is only phonon-xine that plays theme sounds correctly.

Re: KDE Login Sound Loop

phonon-vlc is also the case for me. If anyone files a bug please let us know here.

EDIT: Ok I rebuilt phonon-vlc and now kde event sounds are played once as intended. I am going to flag the package "out of date" and explain this on a message.

Thank you for the fix, but please next time don't flag as out-of-date a bugged package, instead report the bug!

Re: KDE Login Sound Loop

What is your output of:

pacman -Qi phonon-vlc | grep Version

?
