Alright, men. I've heard tell of Gallium3D support for Evergreen.

And since Arch is the tip top of the "gets-it-first" ladder. I should hope and pray you fine gentlemen have come up with something.
Finally being able to kick Catalyst off of my machine permanently would make me a happy bloke.
Phoronix sent me back here to ask you guys if and how you guys are going about the installation and use of Gallium so lay it on me.

If it's not already in the xf86-video-ati/mesa in the repos, check out this.

Well actually this would be my first time trying out these drivers... I've been using fglrx/catalyst since before I can remember and don't know much about configuring or using open source ati, but if there's a guide, I can sure follow it.

You just need to install the packages (xf86-video-ati and mesa) and delete your xorg.conf, there's no configuration required. You only need configuration if you want to tune performance/powersaving stuff.

edit: also, make sure to remove catalyst and reboot before installing

The Arch packages don't support Gallium3D yet, you have to compile them from git.
Take a look on this thread.

I see! Thanks, sir. I saw that in the AUR but I wasn't sure which one to pick up.
I'll do a bit of messing around with it, thanks a bunch.
