msmtp package hasn't been updated for over a year
The Extra rep still has msmtp 1.4.19 (packaged 2009-11-20) although .20 came out in March and .21 in July, when it was also flagged as outdated.

you are right, that's not really close to be bleeding edge, but regarding the last two updates of msmtp we don't miss that much. For everybody who needs the latest version abs might help.

Email the maintainer, sure.
Bug report, most definitely NOT. Please read the introductory comments under the Arch Linux or Community Packages projects at bugs.archlinux.org.
You could also raise the issue on the arch-general list, preferably with some constructive suggestions e.g. maybe you would like to maintain the package yourself in the AUR?

Posting an updated PKGBUILD to arch-general is the way to go. But given I actually use that package, I might just go and update it myself...
