mdassemble segfault [not solved but ignore!]

I did a fresh install (to try out XFS) But am getting an odd error upon reboot.

Running Hook [keymap]
..done
Running Hook [mdadm]
mdassemble[717]:segfault at 0 ip [cut] error 4 in libc-2.12.1.so
Segmentaion fault
Runnning Hook [encrypt]

(At this point it should ask me for the pass, but it doesnt)

mdassemble segfault:: Running Hook [lvm2]
Scanning volumes...
No volume groups found
Waiting 10s for device /dev/mapper/base-root

And it dumps me to a recovery shell.

I have useLVM set to yes in rc.conf, and the hooks line in mkinitcpio.conf is correct with the order mdadm > encrypt > lvm > filesystem.

I've installed Arch many many times, in various configurations, and was using this setup previously but with ext3 filesystem. Its an error I havent encountered before, and searching the foums shows 2 posts for 'mdassemble' but neither relevant. The net doesnt seem to have this problem listed that I could find either.

Re: mdassemble segfault [not solved but ignore!]

Not really solved, but I removed the hard drives, used some spares, reset the CMOS, reseated the memory, changed the sata leads, and it is now working.

So what or how the hell this happened I have no idea, maybe I should learn from this and stop reinstalling everything to try out XYZ.... But thats half the fun!

Will have to test the hard drives I replaced, maybe the problem lies there. Odd. Dam odd.
