[SOLVED]Problem with processor temp?

When I play some games like Rigs of Rods (under wine) and Supertuxkart, after playing a while, my laptop just shuts down and I think it might have something to do with my cpu/gpu overheating. What happens is, I get dumped into one of the other virtual console and when I switch back tty7, the normal shutdown process is running, no error messages that I can see. It didn't used to happen even when playing stuff like Sauerbraten. I think the operating temp for my processor is 0-105 degrees celcius and I don't think it got that hot. I'm not sure what the operating temp for my graphics card is, but it is in the 60 degree range web browsing. I have xsensors installed, but I don't know what it is telling me . It has a tab for acpitz, core0 and core1, so, what are they pointing to? I have a temp monitor in lxpanel, so I will edit this post to include at what temperature my laptop shuts down. Thanks.
EDIT:using the temp monitor in lxpanel (which is processor temp, I assume) and the thermal settings in nvidia xsession settings, my laptop shutdown at 99or 100 degrees celsius according to lxpanel and roughly 87 degrees in nvidia settings. So, I guess it was getting hotter than I thought. I still have a problem, though, because this didn't used to happen. I am not sure when it started as I haven't done much gaming lately, but I know I did not have this problem before the upgrade to kernel 2.6.36 or when I used Ubuntu and Windows Vista. So, is it a problem with my hardware or is it the kernel or something like that? Hope this isn't a stupid question. Thanks.

Re: [SOLVED]Problem with processor temp?

Well, those temperatures appear pretty high to me, too.

Have you checked if the fan is obstructed by dust or other things that don't belong in it?!

This was the reason for a similar problem it used to have :-)

Re: [SOLVED]Problem with processor temp?

Thanks for the suggestion. That helped alot. There wasn't much dust, but enough to make a difference, I suppose.

Dusting works best with a  can of compressed air, you can buy them at photo- and electronics stores:

My GPU temps (Macbook Pro 13',  integrated Nvidia gfx) are usually 55c idle, 75c when maxed out.

Re: [SOLVED]Problem with processor temp?

Thanks, rwd. That should be helpful. I just blew through the ventilation slots into the fan. It is also nice to be able to compare my temperatures to someone elses.
