acpi events on HP laptop

Recently switched to Arch, used debian testing before, still have it installed though. The only problem ive got is that all hotkeys and other acpi events worked in debian (default 2.6.32 kernel), but now i cant get them to work. I COULD use for example xbindkeys to catch the hotkeys, but as I know it is somehow possible to use acpi i would rather do that.

I have tried compiling a 2.6.32.26 kernel from kernel.org, to see if that would do it but, it behaves exactly the same as defalt kernel26 on arch. Have any idea what to do to make it work? I have tried to compare the kernel configs but havnt found any suspicious differences. Could it be something outside of the kernel?

EDIT- Maybe I should mention that most acpi events does work for example the "video" button, lid close/open, brightness changes, battery, ac-adapter, but the ones missed is sleep button, and the volume controls (including mute).
