Re: Arch holiday madness! nominations

Did opera & cower make it to community due to the holiday spirit as well?

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Re: Arch holiday madness! nominations

I'm really wondering about cower myself. Isn't that just the sort of thing that's not supposed to be allowed in a repo?

Re: Arch holiday madness! nominations

Hmm... That would set a bad precedent and would then require all the other AUR helpers to be moved as well. I am of the opinion that AUR helpers should stay in AUR

Cower doesn't actually install anything, it just allows you to interact with the AUR. It's also in the community repository which isn't technically an "official" repo. Still, the community repository is enabled by default so it does set a new precedent.

If anything, cower is standing on the line that shouldn't be crossed. It's up to the devs.

Re: Arch holiday madness! nominations

a minimal pygtk audio-frontend for mplayer:

http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=1355 (90+ votes)
(marked as outdated, but 1.1 is the latest stable version)

never needed more and mplayer needs much less cpu than other players.
