After updating to 3.4 Kontact always crashes immediately after start up saying kmail signal 11... But I can launch Kmail or korganizer fine.

I assume you have upgraded all of kde to 3.4. Have you tried removing then reinstalling as the wiki suggested?
stop kde and log into a console as root (ctrl + alt + F1)
#/etc/rc.d/kdm stop
#pacman -Rd kde
#pacman -S kde

Same problem here, when starting kontact with --iconify-option in ~/.kde/Autostart.

Yes I did -R and then proceeded to install...
I installed under fluxbox so I didn't really need to open another console. (I like a lot of KDE app's but don't like gnome or kde desktops)

Same problem, with a fresh KDE install. I set up an IMAP account. When I reopened Kotact it asked for my password, but the cursor was busy and I couldn't type or click anything at all. So I killed Kontact and started kmail. This worked. I could type my password and read mail. When I reopened Kotact, it didn't crash anymore.
I'm not sure it is the same problem, but it is obvious some bughunting has to be done by the Kontact team.
