generate mpd server stats/usage data

I'd like to generate a list of artist/songs, etc. based on my mpd usage.  I found a perl script that advertises the ability to aggregate the data and display it, but it has a tremendous amount of dependencies (damn perl modules).  Is there another utility that can accomplish this folks would recommend?
