CD burning problem

Installed xfburn, brasero and k3b with pacman and none of them works. K3b states "K3b did not find any optical device in your system. Solution: Make sure HAL daemon is running , it is used by k3b for finding devices"

The rc.conf file has this:

DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network dbus hal netfs crond alsa slim)

The fstab is this:

/dev/sr0        /mnt/dvd        iso9660 ro,users,auto   0       0

I tried restarting dbus and hal but still that didn't work.

Tried adding the user to optical group but still the problem persists.

[root@myhost sridhar]# gpasswd -a sridhar optical
Adding user sridhar to group optical
[root@myhost sridhar]#

Please advice.

Re: CD burning problem

Maybe just try rebooting and then burning?

When you change groups for your user, you have to log all the way out and then log back in to have the new permissions in effect. You can double check with the id command.

Re: CD burning problem

Can you give ouput of groups, try putting a '#' in /dev/sr0 line see if that makes any difference

Do no forget changes to groups only take effect after logging out and in again.

EDIT you just beat to it wink

A reboot fixed the issue.
Thanks.
