A small PPC repository (LXDE and more)

I thought i might not be the only person to benefit from all this compiling i've been doing.

I created a small repository that contains a few of the packages i've compiled, either because i wanted a newer version, or because i had to. It includes most of lxde, and a few other programs that happen to be on my 'essentials' list, along with whatever dependencies i came across.

full package list:

I compiled all these on my 12" ibook G4 (1ghz).  Using these flags:

"-mcpu=7400 -Os -pipe -maltivec -mabi=altivec"

No garantee these will work for older systems (G3s)...or that they work at all, but i'm interested to hear if they do or not. I have some G3s laying around, but havn't had the time to trick them into installing Arch. I'm also working on adding a few more packages, and i'll do my best to keep things up to date, but this is just something i setup for fun and learning. I might get bored with it at some point... who knows.

Package requests are welcome.

if you want to try it out just add to /etc/pacman.conf

UPDATE: Changed address slightly, Core is also mirrored now.

Re: A small PPC repository (LXDE and more)

Hi,

I see in your repo there are many pkgs which are already in extra or core in archlinuxppc (like firefox, etc). Also, do you know if lightspark works? I think it misses altivec code to do YUV420 conversion.

Also, mcpu is deprecated (use mtune instead).

Nice work

Some of the dublicate packages are ones that i compiled to have a newer version then the ones currently available (thunar for example). Firefox is there because i planned on trying to compile either firefox-beta or firefox-pgo, but i wanted to try the vanilla pkgbuild first.

Lightspark just crashes when its loaded into firefox. The stand alone app might work for some things tho. I'll try compiling it again without altivec and see what happens.

In regards to the cflags, i wasnt sure if mcpu and mtune where the same or not. I use march=native on my X86 systems, but this isnt an option with ppc. Thanks for the heads up, i'll change it for any future packages.

Re: A small PPC repository (LXDE and more)

I'd love to test these on my iMac G3, but your repository appears to be down. Any chance it will come back up, or could you perhaps provide some PKGBUILDs?

There is no system but GNU and Linux is one of its kernels.
