[SOLVED] Synaptic touchpad not working properly

Hi,

My synaptics touchpad is not working properly. When I swipe my finger on it, it responds but not properly. The cursor moves on the screen, but the movement is partial, I mean, if I move my finger from right to left on the touchpad, the cursor makes start moving but it stops and continues and doesn't respond correctly.

Ubuntu is also installed on this computer and the touchpad works fine (I say this just to discard a hardware problem). My laptop is an Dell Studio XPS 16. I've tried modifying manually the xorg.conf and adding some extra parameters, but the result is the same: the cursor doesn't move correctly.

The usb mouse works fine.

How can I fix this?

Thanks!

Pau

Re: [SOLVED] Synaptic touchpad not working properly

I've been having some touchpad issues recently too.   Try this: open a terminal and run the following command

xinput --set-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Two-Finger Pressure" 280

and see if it helps.

If it does then you can use it as a temporary workaround.

Re: [SOLVED] Synaptic touchpad not working properly

I'm happy to help !

This seems to be some sort of driver regression so once we get some kernel and/or xorg update it should not be necessary anymore.

Please add [SOLVED] to the topic's title so that others with the same problem can find the solution more easily.
