Problems installing catalyst-old

Hi everyone. I need to install the propietary driver catalyst-old from AUR. I hope you can give some advise.

1. i need kernel 2.6.29. I wanted to install kernel26tp_plus from AUR but the installation fails checking the integrity of the packages (tuxonice patch to be more specific), so i cant install that kernel. I've tried several times compiling a kernel package from source but there's always something that crashes or don't work (for example the keyboard doesn't work even checking the keyboard input option).

2. where i can get a version of xorg that works with catalyst old?

3. does anyone uses this driver and have a fully functional system?

I have a ATI radeon x1200.

I hope my english is understandable.

Re: Problems installing catalyst-old

You will have to downgrade half your system, and it will be a pain to maintain, and most likely not worth it at all. Just use the free driver instead. The performance increas from catalyst on that card is rather minimal anyway.
