Hi all,
after putting my system in hybernate mode, i realized something went wrong. I'm not able to switch to tty anymore by pressing ctrl-alt-fx (x=1..6).
I also noticed that boot and close messages don't appear anymore.
What can i do?
Thanks in advance

Just for clarification, does switching to tty work on a freshly booted system and the problems start to appear after hibernation takes place?

no, since that first time i hybernated the system, i'm not able anymore to switch to tty!
NOTE: i just closed the screen of my laptop, i checked right now and it seems to be "suspended" and NOT "hibernated". I don't know if cares.

I recently had a similar issue. Perhaps the thread will help you troubleshoot a bit deeper.
Hope it helps.

Thanks misfit for the suggestion. I checked alsa and it is running correctly. Moreover i'm not able to see any boot/shutdown msgs!
By the way I was trying to understand something reading logs in /var/logs, but i'm not able to find anything that seems to be useful. Can you please suggest what to look for...just to retrieve useful information?
Thanks

I would start by looking into the "pm-" files in /var/log since these contain messages specific to suspend/hibernate/resume.

Hmmm... No, I was not expecting you to have the identical issue (alsa daemon not initializing properly, thereby inittab not completing). I was merely trying to give you some useful commands to see if the ttys are being created, if they are spawning, if you can manually spawn them, etc..

Yes , i got your point...but i'm unable to spawn ttys. I verified what you did by yourself and seems to be ok. When i press ctr-alt-f1-6 i can only see a black screen!

Hi guys...it's very annoying i'm still not able to see boot scripts, tty, etc.
I was wondering to reinstall the system. Do i need to perform a full installation? I think is a xorg problem...but i'm not able to find it out.
Thanks

Grab Arch live cd chroot in and fix the problem, no real need to reinstall
Do you see grub come up on screen?

If you are talking about boot up messages and shutdown scripts then you may have wrong display mode set in grub [or even hidden]
Most TTY access is Ctrl + Alt + F(1-6)
Sorry cannot be any more help

1. GRUB: What should i check in grub? NOTE: i can see grub at boot, is there any option to check?
2. TTY: Ctrl + Alt + F(1-6) gives me only black screen. Is there anything to check?
Thanks in advance
