Compiz Standalone automount solution

Was planning on trying out a solution that I found on the forum, but realize it is VERY outdated and the package in question no longer exists:

does anyone have a newer solution to this problem?

Re: Compiz Standalone automount solution

Thunar + Thunar-volman + Hal should work fine.

Re: Compiz Standalone automount solution

not a fan of thunar, so that would be cumbersome for me to open a filemanager just to mount or unmount and then move to another filemanager to navigate... Thanks for the suggestion though.

Udiskie: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Udiskie

But out of curiosity, what filemanager are you using? They usually all handle mounting in addition to filemanagement.

Re: Compiz Standalone automount solution

xfe is my personal fav file manager followed by emelfm2.... pcmanfm used to be my browser of choice, but I didn't like how it acted after the release about 6 months or so ago... will try udiskie... thanks!

Re: Compiz Standalone automount solution

Hmm, xfe has mounting... though I think only for stuff already defined in /etc/fstab, so not very ideal.

As for pcmanfm... I don't like the newest version either, way too rough around the edges. So I'm sticking with 0.5.2

Re: Compiz Standalone automount solution

yeah, xfe only handles fstab stuff and already mounted disks... but this seems like a universal solution, especially for obscure environments...

now if I could find an agnostic solution for the "places" plugins on the standard DE's, I'd be good!
