kernel modifications needed upon moving hdd to other machine?

I am going to buy new hardware soon but would like to keep my SSD.

Not being familiar with how the Arch-kernel deals with new hardware considering built-in support, modules et al, I am now wondering if I need to do anything like compiling the kernel or running some command(s).

Can I simply switch harddrives, boot the system and that's it? I had used Gentoo years before and of course I had to compile everything by hand again, but maybe this is different with Arch?

Any hints are welcome.

Re: kernel modifications needed upon moving hdd to other machine?

boot the fallback kernel and you /should/ be fine, then rebuild the "normal" image using mkinitcpio. done.
