I am using Gnome and have installed ibus. I am trying to use the ibus Anthy IME for Japanese input in Anki (a QT4 app), but it doesn't work. Ibus doesn't seem to recognize the app. Tested with another QT4 app, Virtualbox gui, and it doesn't work there either. On the other hand, it works perfectly with GTK apps.
export GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus export XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus export QT_IM_MODULE=ibus export XIM_PROGRAM=/usr/bin/ibus-daemon
in my .bashrc.
I googled for a solution but couldn't find one. I also installed ibus-qt, but it didn't fix anything, nor do I know what it does.

I am retarded or blind or both. The answer was already in these forums. For some reason, QT apps look in ~/.xprofile and not in ~/.bashrc. Creating .xprofile and adding the code above to it solved this.
