[SOLVED]Suspend on lid close without using acpi/acpid

Hi,

I'm using an Acer Aspire One, I've been trying to figure out how to get suspend and hibernation working with it.  So far I've gotten them to work by disabling acpi and apic.  What I've done is add

/boot/grub/grub.cfg

linux ... ro ... noapic apm=on noacpi

Now I'm wondering is there a way find a trigger when I close the lid on my laptop.  The usual way is to use acpi and add the needed commands to /etc/acpi/handler.sh but since that breaks the suspend / hibernate funtionality I need a way around it.

Why does it 'break the suspend / hibernate funtionality'? It seems unlikely to me that acpi cannot be made to work.

My bad,

After playing around with the noacpi and noapic.  I found out I can use acpi perfectly fine. APIC was what borked the suspend/hibernate functions.  So I guess this is also fixed.
