SATA PCI-e Controller

My new SATA2 SSD had problems with my MB chipset that I've seen elsewhere on the web. If I get a PCI-e SATA adapter and plug it in via this, will that avoid the motherboard bad SATA code? i.e. will it have its own controller on it and will it speak directly to the kernel?  Others (including kernel devs) have said that the problem is the chipset spewing false SATA errors, so my assumption is that when I bypass that it will work fine.

mobo: Asrock ALIVE-NF6G GLAN
SSD: OCZ Vertex 2 60GB

Thanks
