GrafX2-svn now in aur - a question about icon location

Hi,

I just wanted to let you guys know that I've uploaded a PKGBUILD for GrafX2-svn to aur. I realized the icons were first installed in /usr/share/icons rather than /usr/share/pixmaps where all the other application icons seem to be, but I've fixed the location for now. So my actual question is whether there is a current standard path for application icons, or are both /usr/share/pixmaps,icons as acceptable? I'm not using a DE, so I couldn't test if the icon was originally found for a menu/desktop launcher.

..if you're into pixel graphics, this app is a must big_smile

Thanks,
Sakari

Re: GrafX2-svn now in aur - a question about icon location

i think they should be the same in most cases.(1) however, gnome defines /usr/share/icons through  $XDG_DATA_DIRS/icons, which seems dependent on $XDG_DATA_DIRS definition. /usr/share/pixmaps appears in gnome's icon search path explicitly.(2)

and i personally treat /usr/share/icons directory more for icon themes, and /usr/share/pixmaps for application icons.
