Suddenly ...Epiphany won't start

Not sure when it happened, what caused it to happen, but Epiphany no longer launches.  All I get is the following error:

"Epiphany cannot start.  Mozilla initialization failed."

Any ideas? Firefox & Mozilla launch without issue..

Thanks

Re: Suddenly ...Epiphany won't start

I had a problem launching an epiphany a while back. Turned out, I had too much coffee and not enough sleep. Took a nap, stared at the problem a bit longer, and WHAM!, that epiphany occured just like I needed it to.
big_smile

ps. On occasion I have also had problems launching "paradigm shift". It kept segfaulting on "agent of change"..go figure.  wink

Re: Suddenly ...Epiphany won't start

Cactus,

thanks for the help, but I don't think it's fixed by any of those patches.  I believe it happend after a

pacman -Syu

.  Net, I would think other's would be experiencing the issue, but I guess not...

Thanks!

Re: Suddenly ...Epiphany won't start

hmm..just curious, did you logout, and then back in after the update?
Sometimes that is needed..

Re: Suddenly ...Epiphany won't start

Yep, even rebooted a couple times (Wife still uses windows..)   I have a 'spare' partition.  I may install Arch from scratch on that to see if I can re-create.. I think it's specific to my install, I just have no idea where to look to trouble shoot.

When launching from a terminal, I don't even get any output to stdout.

..strangeness...

It's because of the mozilla 1.7.6 upgrade
You can go to /opt/mozilla/lib and make "ln -s mozilla-1.7.6 mozilla"

Re: Suddenly ...Epiphany won't start

Thanks for the URL. Now firefox works with type-ahead (though I like the findbar better tongue), I consider modifying the mozilla stuff in arch again:

Mozilla suite is no longer developed -> no longer our main mozilla-* toolkit to build against. Maybe even consider removing all includefiles like we did with firefox.
Firefox will get used where mozilla is used now (both Galeon and epiphany support it AFAIK). This means includefiles will get shipped again.
Thunderbird will stay the same.

Required patches will be added to firefox then. I have to work this out, but I think it's a good idea to have in the near future now the mozilla foundation decides not to release mozilla 1.8 stable.

Tried, but no go..  I finally uninstalled Mozilla & Epiphany, deleted ~/.mozilla and /opt/mozilla directory.  Then, a reinstall of mozila and epiphany did the trick, I'm back in business.  It's like I had and epiphany!

I had an epiphany too!  I guess I should navigate my galleon to a lost island, and explore, then conquer it!

Don't forget to write an opera about it.
