Now that the thunar-archive-plugin works.. how about assisting in the thunar-media-tags-plugin?
I heard one other human say that didn't work either.
Put a MP3 in your home directory or elsewhere, and right click on that mp3 file in Thunar, and no meta info windows shows.
Yup no metadata info here..

Why archive-plugin still depends on thunar-vfs? It carries on hal, hal-info and dmidecode? I removed all these 4, and plugin seems to work anyway. (but I didn't do deep test)
I think the thunar-volman now replaces thunar-vfs and it depends on gvfs for the job done by hal. So if you have thunar-volman (along with various gvfs-* packages) archive plugin will still work without hal etc.

AFAIK thunar-volman has never had mounting purpose. It just provide some management actions on volumes already mounted. In older version of thunar automounting was done by hal, and thunar accessed volumes through thunar-vfs. Now udev mounts volumes, and thunar access these resources though gvfs.
hal→udev (not every functions)
thunar-vfs→gvfs
Problem seems to be solved with thunar-archive-plugin 0.3.0 now in extra.

Indeed, volman only monitors (gudev) new drives/volumes, trigger the correct command based on device type, mounting through thunar (which does gio -> gvfs>policy_shit>god_knows_what or plain mount in gio).
