[Solved] completely broken after upgrade

Today I ran pacman -Syu. The machine ran fine until next reboot. Now when I boot it I get

switch_root: can't execute '/sbin/init': Too many levels of symbolic links

and then I get a kernel panic.
So, then I booted off a arch liveCD I had laying around and mounted my root partition. I can read files and run all the stuff in /bin just fine, but when I try to chroot, I get the same error, except this time with /bin/bash.
Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas as to what's wrong?

EDIT: Oh, I'm stupid: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=838731 is the same thing.
