Xfce 4.8, drop hal: problem when extracting optical device

Hi,

If I umounted from thunar work perfectly.

If I extracting a dvd/cd with the phisical button in my pc xfce doesn't see that the device isn't insert.

Solutions?

Not sure about the overall solution but this problem has cropped up for me from time to time down through the years on several Linux distros.  Having said that, does running "eject" from the command line pop open the disk?
