[Solved] Character encoding problem

This is my first post, so hello everybody!
I'm using Arch for a couple of weeks now and I'm amazed by simplicity of the distro, it's just like I imagined it to be. However I've encountered a strange error/bug. With no reason I can think of character encoding in gtk apps broke. I've set locales right after system installation (pl_PL.ISO-8859-2), generated them and everything went smoothly, I had what I wanted. I can't even say when it broke, someday I just started tilda, went to preferences and it was all full of recantangles smile I don't use tilda anymore, however when ran from console it threw some warnings like this:

Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to set text from markup due to error parsing markup: Błąd w wierszu 1 przy znaku 21: Nazwa zawiera nieprawidłowy tekst zakodowany za pomocą UTF-8 - nieprawidłowe "Szeroko\xb6\xe6"

translation of the polish part:

"Błąd w wierszu 1 przy znaku 21: Nazwa zawiera nieprawidłowy tekst zakodowany za pomocą UTF-8 - nieprawidłowe "Szeroko\xb6\xe6"" = "Error in line 1 mark 21: the name contain invalid text encoded with UTF8 - incorrect "Szeroko\xb6\xe6""

I've searched the net and the board and I found some similiar topics however they described issues which may look similiar but I've not been able to solve the problem, so here I am! Could you possibly help me find how to get rid of this, please?

Note that this behavior does not apply to all apps. For example GIMP handles locales nicely while nautilus cannot show valid filenames (they are on ntfs-3g partition mounted with iocharset=iso8859-2) though menus are ok.

Any ideas?

Re: [Solved] Character encoding problem

Why not set

LOCALE="pl_PL.UTF-8"

You may have more luck on the Polish forum http://bbs.archlinux.pl/
