keyboard

Hi all...

I've been tryin' to find out how to fix my keyboard of my DELL I8200... look

I used to use mandrake with 2.4 kernel and I've read when some DELL inspirons move to 2.6 kernel his special keys (play, stop, prev and next keys, next to control volume) stop to work, they fixed them, but in other distros, like gentoo, here is an example, look how he fixed his keyboard...

http://linux.siprell.com/hardware.htm#keyboard

... how can I do that with Arch or something similar?

Re: keyboard

Sure, why not. Though before messing around with patches and so, check if the keys do anything in xev and if they do you can just use xmodmap.

Re: keyboard

Check your kernel logs in /var/log. If you can see any messages about not recognized keycodes it can be done (I wrote a small howto about mapping keycodes but unfortunatelly it's only available in Polish right now :-) I was going to translate it but couldn't find enough time)
It takes some time and patience to setup all extra keys but arch already has all needed tools included.
